A Pilgrim’s Prayer

Christ’s love shines only faintly
across the dark waves of suffering –
yet I risk my life to seek His face.
Beyond the wide water of our sinful strivings
burns the radiant body of the Everlasting Man.

Blow me by Your Word of grace, O Lord –
give but one breath, I will be whole.
Hide deep the knowledge of Your hope within me:
I will not fear the storm, but trust the captain of my soul.
